U16 Basketball

Our U16 basketball team got their season underway with a challenging first fixture against a very strong St Vincent’s side. St Paul’s battled throughout, but their opponents proved much stronger on the day. Despite the result, the game provided a valuable first competitive experience of the season and plenty for the team to learn from. There are a number of areas to work on in training, and the players will look to take those lessons forward, continue developing as a team and come back stronger in their next fixture.

U19 Basketball

Our U19 basketball team got their season underway with a thrilling and closely fought encounter against St Vincent’s. Missing a number of key players through injury, St Paul’s nevertheless pulled together and produced a really strong team performance. We started brightly, defending particularly well and finding their range from outside, with a number of three-pointers in the first half. As the game progressed, St Vincent’s managed to build a lead that stretched to ten points, but St Paul’s refused to let the game get away from them. A determined fightback saw the team claw their way back into contention, reducing the deficit to just three points in the closing seconds. Despite pushing right to the end, St Paul’s ultimately fell just short, 46–43. Although not the result they wanted, there was plenty to take from an encouraging first performance of the season, particularly the team’s defensive effort, resilience and determination to fight their way back into the game.
