TY Spanish Language Immersion Trip to Tenerife

October 20, 2026

At the end of September, a group of Transition Year students enjoyed a hugely successful eight-day Spanish language immersion trip to Tenerife, accompanied by Ms Tobin and Ms Dowling.

The boys stayed with Spanish host families in the beautiful city of La Laguna, giving them a wonderful opportunity to practise their Spanish and experience everyday life and culture in the Canary Islands.

Each morning was spent attending Spanish language classes, while the afternoons were packed with activities and excursions. Highlights included a visit to Mount Teide, Spain’s highest mountain, a day swimming and playing sports at the stunning Las Teresitas beach, a scavenger hunt around Santa Cruz and a fantastic afternoon of games and sports with students from a local secondary school.

The boys also enjoyed sampling the local cuisine, learning to prepare tapas in a professional kitchen and, of course, a thrilling day at Siam Park water park!

The trip was a wonderful combination of language learning, cultural immersion, new friendships and unforgettable experiences. The boys embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and were a credit to themselves and the school throughout.
