Our U16 basketball team sealed their place in the quarter-finals after a fantastic 30–59 victory in their final group game! The starting five of Oisín Mullen, David Antonov, Bailey Whelan, Jack Troy, and Jacob Bardauskas set the tone from the first whistle with strong teamwork and determination.
David put on a defensive masterclass, marking the opposition’s number 13 (their top player and a member of the Irish team) right out of the game. Oisín kept the offence flowing with clever assists, while Bailey made sharp cuts into the paint, taking the ball to the basket himself or creating opportunites for his teammates. Jacob Bardauskas and Jack Troy were strong on defense, shutting down drives, winning key rebounds and keeping the pressure on.
It was a real team performance, with all players getting valuable court time. The subs came in full of energy, kept up the intensity, and gained great experience heading into the knockout stages. The team had great guidance from assisstant coach, Daniel O’Hara (5th year). A brilliant all-round team effort. Well done, lads, and best of luck in the quarter-finals!
