Literacy Week

March 10, 2026

As part of Literacy Week, our senior students took part in a fun and engaging “Word of the Day” challenge. Each day, students were introduced to a unique and interesting word and encouraged to use it during Period 3 in class conversations or discussions.

Some of the words included Flibbertigibbet and Hornswoggle, which certainly sparked plenty of curiosity, creativity and laughter around the school!

The aim of the initiative was to promote vocabulary development, confidence in speaking and a greater awareness of language in everyday classroom interactions. By encouraging students to actively use new words, we hoped to make language learning enjoyable while also highlighting the importance of strong communication skills across all subjects.

Students who successfully used the word of the day had their names entered into a daily prize draw, and we are delighted to congratulate our prize winners (pictured). Well done to everyone who took part and embraced the challenge with such enthusiasm!

Special thanks to Mr Forrester and the English department for organising.
